Time sure does fly by pretty quickly, doesn't it? One day, you and your girlfriend are looking at as many engagement rings that are on the market and then all of a sudden you're moving into your first real home together as a married couple. A home that has multiple bedrooms, more than one bathroom and an actual back yard. Sure, it probably took you years getting from your first place together to your first home; the home you're going to spend most of your years raising a family in.
You'll be watching your kids grow up right in front of your eyes. Their first birthday goes by and then one day they'll be graduating from high school. Kind of scary to think about. Going from watching them play in the yard, to getting ready for their junior high school prom to seeing the back of their car as they drive off to college. That's just how quickly time goes by. That's why you need to enjoy every single moment now while you can because you'll be holding on to those memories for a life time.

When it comes to your children graduating high school, they do have a variety of options to choose from. Some might decide that they don't want to continue their studies and just want to go to work. Others take some time off to find themselves and leave their house to travel the world. For others the usual route takes them to college or university. It's just the natural order of things. Elementary school leads to high school and high school leads to college or university.
You have to go to college or university if you have dreams of becoming something like a doctor or lawyer. They don't just give out medical diplomas out on the street, you know. Depending on where you live in Canada, your son or daughter might not even have to leave home as there's a local college or university in town. However, not everyone is lucky enough to be in such a situation.
Some Canadian cities or towns are so small that they don't have a local post-secondary institution. Or the college or university that is located in town doesn't offer the courses they need for whatever their career goals are. In that case, you and your son or daughter need to start looking at listings in anticipation of a move to the big city in order for them to go to the college or university that can accommodate their educational needs. No parent dreams of the day their child moves out but it's a situation that every parent will probably have to face at one time. The sooner you deal with it, the less emotional it'll be.
